5. Wear your backpack facing the front
Pickpockets target backpacks because they can easily take an item without getting noticed. This is the case when you are in a crowded place. If you are carrying something valuable zip your backpack and lock it or wear it facing the front. This should be the case with your wallet and mobile phones. Keep them in pockets that pickpockets cannot access. When searching for accommodation look for hotel rooms that have a safe cabinet that you can leave any personal belongings.
